Why No One’s Reading Your Job Application (and How to Fix It)

Let’s be blunt:

Your job application isn’t being read. It’s being skimmed for 6 seconds—then trashed.

Recruiters see hundreds of these a day. They’re scanning for proof, not fluff.

Fix:

Start with a hard result (numbers, percentages, cost savings)
Drop generic adjectives—add specifics only you can claim

“Dear Hiring Manager” is code for “I sent this to 20 companies.”

Generic apps go straight to the maybe pile—which is recruiter code for “never.”

Fix:

Mention the company name and a recent win they’ve had
Match your top 3 skills to their top 3 needs in the posting

Your best achievements are hiding halfway down page two.

Fix:

Put your most relevant win in the first 3 lines
Use bullets, not paragraphs

Applicant Tracking Systems don’t “miss” your resume. You just didn’t give them what they need.

No keywords, no match.

Fix:

Pull 5–7 exact phrases from the job description
Drop them naturally into your bullets
